Gingr vs. BookyTails

The honest difference
Gingr is a strong product for the buyer it was designed for (multi-location boarding and daycare). These are the four reasons a grooming-only shop typically picks BookyTails instead.
$29 flat vs. $105+ per month
BookyTails Solo is $29/mo, Team is $59/mo, flat. Gingr's lowest plan (Spa, grooming-focused) is listed at $105/mo on gingrapp.com. Over 12 months that is roughly $912 less out the door if you run a one-person grooming shop.
Grooming is our core, not a module
Gingr's main product is daycare check-in, kennel management, occupancy boards, and overnight stay logistics. If you only do grooming, you are paying for boarding features you will never open. BookyTails was built grooming-first: pet profiles, coat-type quoting, route maps, vaccine reminders.
AI photo intake returns a quote in 30 seconds
Your customer uploads up to 10 photos from their phone. Claude analyzes breed, size, weight, coat condition, and matting level and returns a recommended service plus a price. Gingr uses a traditional intake form. There is no AI quoting equivalent.
Mobile-groomer rig features, built in
Daily route map, optimized stop order, drive-time estimates, on-the-way SMS alerts to the customer, GPS check-in, mileage tracking with AI receipt OCR. Gingr is built around fixed facility check-in, not van-based routing.

Where the two tools stand on the features groomers and facility operators actually use. Note that boarding and daycare rows show BookyTails as a hard "No": we do not pretend to cover them.

Who Gingr is actually for, and who BookyTails is for
Gingr fits multi-location boarding, daycare, training, and grooming facilities. If you have 10+ kennel runs, overnight stays, daycare check-in lines, and a front desk team coordinating across services, Gingr is built for that operation and the price is reasonable for what you get.
BookyTails fits the solo or small (1 to 3 person) grooming shop. Mobile rigs, home-based studios, and small storefront salons that only do grooming. The AI photo intake, vaccination tracking, coat-type quoting, and route map exist because we built this for groomers specifically, not as a grooming module on top of a larger facility platform.
If you run grooming alongside meaningful boarding or daycare revenue, stay on Gingr. We would rather you do that than switch to us, lose your boarding workflow, and churn. Try BookyTails for 14 days only if grooming-only is the actual shape of your business.
Switching from Gingr: common questions
How hard is it to migrate from Gingr to BookyTails?
Gingr lets you export your customer, pet, and appointment data as CSV. BookyTails imports CSV directly. For a grooming-only shop, the move typically takes about 5 minutes: export from Gingr, drop the file into BookyTails settings, map a few columns, done. We also accept Vagaro, MoeGo, and Pawfinity export formats if you previously used one of those.
I run a boarding or daycare facility too, should I use BookyTails?
Honest answer: no. BookyTails is grooming-only. We do not handle kennel assignments, overnight stay billing, daycare check-in, occupancy boards, or boarding vaccine cutoff logic. If boarding or daycare is a meaningful part of your revenue, Gingr or another boarding-first platform (Time To Pet, Pet Sitter Plus, Kennel Connection) will fit better than us. We would rather tell you that up front than sign you up and watch you struggle.
Does BookyTails handle multi-location?
Not yet. BookyTails is built for a single shop or a single mobile rig today. If you run two or more physical locations under one brand, Gingr Enterprise is built for exactly that use case. Multi-location support is on our roadmap but not in production. If you need it now, do not switch to us.
What about kennel, boarding, or overnight stay features?
BookyTails does not handle these. We do not track kennel availability, overnight stay nights, feeding instructions, medication schedules for boarders, or pickup time billing. That is a different product category and a different software stack. Gingr's Stay plan is purpose-built for this.
Why is BookyTails so much cheaper than Gingr?
Two reasons. First, we serve a narrower customer (grooming-only, mostly solo or small team) so the product surface area is smaller and cheaper to operate. Second, our pricing is flat: $29 Solo, $59 Team, no per-staff stacking, no per-location fees, no add-on modules. Gingr is priced to cover a much larger product that includes boarding, daycare, training, and grooming.
