Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs how you may and may not use BookyTails. It applies in addition to our Terms of Service. Violations may lead to suspension or termination of your account, refund forfeiture, and in serious cases, referral to law enforcement.

1. You may not

• Use BookyTails to send spam, unsolicited bulk SMS, or marketing messages to people who haven't consented.
• Send SMS in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the Canada Anti-Spam Law (CASL), or any equivalent law where your customers reside.
• Use the service for any illegal activity, including fraud, money laundering, or human trafficking.
• Upload content that's defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, or that depicts violence or cruelty toward animals.
• Impersonate another business, individual, or BookyTails staff. Make deceptive claims about your services, pricing, or qualifications.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to BookyTails infrastructure, other groomers' accounts, customer records you don't own, or any system connected to BookyTails.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise attempt to extract source code or non-public APIs from BookyTails.
• Probe, port-scan, or stress-test BookyTails infrastructure without our prior written permission.
• Resell, sublicense, or rent access to BookyTails to third parties without a written agreement.
• Use BookyTails to upload or distribute malware, viruses, or any code intended to interfere with the service or other systems.
• Use the service in a way that, in our reasonable judgment, places undue load on the system or impairs other groomers' experience.
• Use BookyTails to evade tax obligations, sanctions, or enforcement orders.

2. SMS-specific expectations

SMS abuse is the fastest path to having your account, and your carrier number registration, suspended. We require:

• Prior consent. Every customer you message must have agreed to receive SMS from you. Booking an appointment with your business is generally sufficient consent for transactional messages (reminders, receipts) but not for marketing.
• STOP keyword honored. If a customer replies STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or similar, we automatically suppress further messages from your account to that number. Don't attempt workarounds.
• Identifying sender. Your business name should be recognizable in every message. We populate this automatically; do not edit message bodies to obscure or impersonate.
• 10DLC registration. US carriers require business number registration for high-volume SMS. You're responsible for completing 10DLC registration through Brevo when prompted.

3. Photo and content expectations

• Photos uploaded to BookyTails should be of pets and grooming work only. Don't upload photos of people without their consent or photos that could embarrass or expose them.
• Don't use BookyTails to store unrelated personal photos or documents. We're a grooming SaaS, not a cloud backup service.
• We may, as a last resort, remove content that violates this AUP. We'll notify you when practical.

4. AI usage

• AI quote suggestions are estimates based on the photos and notes you provide. Don't represent AI output as a guaranteed price to your customer; review and adjust before sending.
• Don't deliberately submit photos unrelated to grooming intake to manipulate the AI or our systems.

5. Reporting abuse

If a customer of yours, or a third party, reports your account for abuse, we'll investigate and notify you of the report when we can. If you receive an abuse report from a customer, please respond promptly; ignored complaints may escalate to suspension.

To report someone else's misuse of BookyTails, email abuse@bookytails.com with details. We'll acknowledge within 2 business days.

6. Enforcement

Depending on the severity of the violation, our response may include warning, temporary feature suspension (e.g., SMS sending), full account suspension, or termination. We'll generally try to escalate proportionally, but we reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate for serious violations (illegal content, fraud, security threats).
